I am originally from Halifax, so I have had a lot of seafood in my day. That’s why when I heard of The Goofie Newfie Pub and Grill, I had to check it out and give it my review.
The first thing you’ll notice going to the Goofie Newfie is the fantastic view. It’s right along the Grand River.

It’s a beautiful view, but it’s pretty loud if you’re trying to enjoy the conversation (If you have difficulty hearing outside may not be for you). For me though, it wasn’t terrible, and we wanted to sit outside because it was such a nice day. They were kind enough to open the second outside seating area for us where it was less busy – which was super friendly of them.
I have to say that the service was excellent for our visit, and the food didn’t take long to come. This is dependent on how busy it is, of course. No restaurant is perfect, and everyone has bad days.
They do have inside seating as well, but if it’s a nice day, I recommend that you sit outside.
Of course, the food served at The Goofie Newfie is seafood, but they do offer other options as well. Not everyone in my family likes seafood, so it all worked out.

The prices are on the expensive side.
Most dishes are going to cost about $20 or more. I got the Haddock Fish and Chips with a Pepsi, and it was just short of $25 for my meal. There were five of us, and we all ate an adult meal, and the bill came in well over $120. So, it’s not the cheapest place to eat in Fergus, that’s for sure.
The portions were a good size. My 11-year-old daughter got a half-size of the Traditional Fish and Chips, and it was perfect for her.

I got the Fish and Chips, my wife got the club sandwich, my oldest son got lobster poutine, and my second oldest son got a bacon cheeseburger. I have to admit that the food was delicious. The fish was cooked perfectly, and the fries on the side were light and flakey. Overall, an excellent supper.

If you’re looking for a great place to eat in Fergus, I strongly encourage you to check out The Goofie Newfie.
You can find them at the Fergus Marketplace at 105 Queen St W, Fergus, ON N1M 1S6, Canada. Or you can call them at 519-843-4483, if you have any questions.
I think you’ll enjoy your meal; the scenery and the service were excellent.
I would definitely go back again.
